The Door to Miracles

If I let go of control, I can get the focus back on myself, which opens the door for a lot of miracles.

Paths to Recovery, p. 125

I’ve been reflecting on the relationship between my need to control and the presence of miracles in my life. It's like an inverse equation: the tighter I grip, the fewer miracles I see; the more I let go, the more abundantly they appear. My attempts to orchestrate every outcome are like building a wall, effectively blocking the very blessings I desire.

This realization has been profound. Letting go of control isn't a passive abandonment; it's an active reorientation towards my Higher Power. It shifts my focus from trying to manipulate external circumstances or fix others, back to my own inner landscape—my choices, my growth, my spiritual well-being. This redirection of energy inward, towards the only place I truly have agency, clears the mental clutter and emotional resistance that kept me from receiving.

When I truly release my grip, an invisible door swings open. It’s as if my surrender creates an unobstructed pathway for my Higher Power to work in my life, manifesting gentle, unexpected miracles I previously couldn’t see. These aren't always grand, dramatic events, but incredibly meaningful shifts in perspective, moments of profound peace, or opportunities that unfold only when I stop trying to force them. Being open allows these miracles to reveal themselves, reminding me that the flow of grace is always present, waiting for me to step out of its way.

Practice

Today, I will focus on my own journey and let go of trying to arrange an outcome that isn't mine to control, trusting my Higher Power to guide me.
