Higher Power's Care
I needed to make the decision to allow my Higher Power to take care of me.
The twin realization that I am powerless over people and that I needed to make the decision to allow my Higher Power to take care of me forms a fundamental pillar of continuous recovery. I cannot manage the world, and perhaps even more importantly, I do not have to. The moment I genuinely turn a fear or a problem over to my Higher Power, I step out of the exhausting role of Supreme Controller, relinquishing a burden I was never meant to carry.
This decision resonates deeply with Step Three, translating it into continuous, active practice. My daily inventory consistently reveals the myriad things I attempted, often futilely, to control. Each time, the daily decision to redirect these worries to God frees me. This radical trust comes at the price of relinquishing the feeling of being indispensable, but it rewards me infinitely with profound safety and peace. I am no longer surviving alone, constantly striving and manipulating; instead, I am operating under divine protection. Embracing this decision truly is the ultimate act of self-care.
If I experience a moment of anxiety today, I will physically hold my hands palms-up and silently say, 'I turn this worry over. You take care of me.' I will repeat this affirmation until I feel the physical release of tension.
